carousels with a complete contingency,

magnificent Looff carousel that
Charles placed on his pier in Santa
Monica, and another Looff carousel
placed at Redondo Beach in ***.  
The other Looff carousel with full,
jumping menagerie is the one that "got
away" from Long Beach in 1998
because San Francisco had been
tracking their precious machine for
twenty years to bring it home.

The 1915 Looff Legacy Carousel was:
Began in 1913 by Charles Looff,
nationally renowned amusement
magnate who famously lived in
apartments in his iconic hippodrome
just above the Pike Carousel. He was a
dynamic figure in Long Beach history.
It premiered at the 1915 Panama
Pacific International Exposition in San
Francisco, one of the great World's
Fairs of the early 20th Century.
